HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04261988 - 1.9 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Declaring May ) as Independent Living Month ) RESOLUTION NO. 88/225 in Contra Costa County. ) More than 3,000, 000 people with disabilities reside in the State of California, and the California Foundation of Independent Living Centers is dedicated to insuring equal access to all Californians with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities have the potential to live and work as participating members of their communities. There are 25 independent living centers in the State of California offering support services to persons with disabilities to help them toward achieving independence. During the month of May, independent living centers throughout California will celebrate the abilities and capabilities of individuals with disabilities in their salute to independent living. "Independent Living Month" provides the opportunity to raise public awareness about both the needs and the achievements of these individuals. The State Legislature is committed to highlighting programs which encourage all California citizens to become better informed about the abilities of our residents with disabilities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that Contra Costa County joins the State of California and its 57 other counties in proclaiming the month of May, 1988, as "Independent Living Month.
