HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03081988 - S.2 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: I Co tra Supervisor Nancy Fanden Costa March 1, 1988 for consideration on County DATE: March 8, 1988 SUBJECT: COMMUTER TRAIN STUDY SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Supervisors direct the Chairman of the Board to send a letter of support to Assemblyman Tom Hannigan and MTC in support of Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR132) to finance a $100,000 study of installing a commuter line on existing tracks along the Southern Pacific right of way between San Jose, Oakland and Sacramento, with stops in Martinez, Richmond, Pinole & Crockett. Further, request that the study be expanded to include the feasibility of extending service to Antioch and Pittsburg. He also urged that service to Antioch and Pittsburg, although very desirable, Inot hold up service between Oakland and Sacramento. Supervisor Fanden agreed to include the use of diesel coaches in the proposal to Sacramento.
