HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03081988 - 2.2 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: HARVEY E. BRAGDON, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DATE: March 4, 1988 SUBJECT: Proposed Naming of "William Rust Summit" SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS Endorse the request of the El Cerrito Historical Society to name a peak within El Cerrito as William Rust Summit. FISCAL IMPACT There is no known financial impact of the action on the County. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS The E1 Cerrito Historical Society has requested the California Advisory Committee on Geographic Names to name a peak within the City of E1 Cerrito after one of it' s early pioneers. The peak is located along the E1 Cerrito-Richmond City boundary on the edge of Wildcat Canyon Regional Park. The peak is being suggested to be named the William Rust Summit. In 1976 the City of E1 Cerrito unanimously supported this naming suggestion. A quick review of County records show no conflict with other historic names for the peak. Efforts to maintain a tie with the history of the County should be encouraged and I recommend the Board endorse this request.
