HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03081988 - 1.17 4�1 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming ) the Week of March 13-19 , 1988 ) RESOLUTION NO. 88/115 as Employ the Older Worker Week ) in Contra Costa County ) WHEREAS there are more than 80 million Americans 40 years of age and older; and WHEREAS they have worked hard to get where they are today and to get us as a community and a nation where we are; and WHEREAS during their years of work they have learned a great deal, have gained invaluable experience and have come to appreciate a good job and to be proud of doing a good job; and WHEREAS many of these people, though, are having difficulty finding work for no reason other than that there is a prejudice against older workers; and WHEREAS the Federal Government is now working to eliminate unfounded discrimination against older workers; NOW THEREFORE the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby ENDORSES the efforts of our Federal Government on behalf of the older workers and PROCLAIMS the week of March 13-19, 1988 as Employ the Older Worker Week in Contra Costa County. The Board of Supervisors further URGES all employers to give special consideration to the skills and qualifications of those men and women 40 years of age and older. The Board of Supervisors further URGES all those who are responsible for job placement, counseling, training and retraining services to intensify, throughout the entire year, their efforts to help older workers find suitable jobs and training opportunities. PASSED on March 8, 1988 by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
