March 8, 1988 @ Cou* SUBJECT: ACEESW Public Hearing - Women, Family, and the Workplace (S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) M RECOMMENDATION I. Recommendation: Acknowledge and commend the Contra Costa County Advisory Committee on the Employment and Economic Status of Women (ACEESW) for holding a public hearing on Women, Family, and the Workplace in the Board Chambers on Saturday, 19 March; Authorize and encourage County staff to cooperate and participate in accordance with existing policies and procedures; Thank Congressman Miller for delivering the keynote address; Request the ACEESW submit a summary report of the hearing to the Board. 11. Financial Impact: None. Hearing is to be conducted within existing appropriations. III. Reasons For Recommendation/Background: March has been declared Women's History Month by the Governor, and the County Board is sponsoring an International Women's Day Program on 8 March. In November 1987, Supervisor McPeak, Board Chair, met with the ACEESW to discuss future ACEESW activities and a March hearing complementary to State and County activity during Womens History Month. Attached is an announcement of the public hearing.
