Senator Robbins if Senator Robbins is . willing to amend the bill to include Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: Current law authorizes San Diego and Alameda counties to establish a fee not to exceed $30 for the processing of Accounts Receivable for fines owed in criminal cases. SB 1767 would increase this maximum administrative fee to $50 . SB 1767, as amended March 14, 1988, would also exempt this administrative fee from the fines and forfeitures which would have to be transmitted to the State under SB 709. In 1987, the Board had as a part of its legislative program . an effort to have Contra Costa County included with those counties which are authorized to impose .this administrative fee. Legislation had been introduced by Senator Petris in 1986 but was inadvertently limited to Alameda County at the last moment. The County was unsuccessful in being added to the bill in 1987 . Since inclusion of the County in SB 1767 would generate substantial revenue which would be retained by the County to assist in offsetting the costs of municipal courts, it is recommended that the Board of Supervisors support SB 1767 if the' author will amend the bill to include this County.
