HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03011988 - 1.5 (2) O: REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FROM: PHIL BATCHELOR, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DATE: February 16, 1988 SUBJECT: Contract Amendment for Legal Consulting Services SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS Approve and authorize the Executive Director or his designee to execute the attached amendment to an existing contract between the Redevelopment Agency and Goldfarb & Lipman for legal consulting services in connection with the Pleasant Hill, BART, North Richmond and West Pittsburg Redevelopment Projects. FISCAL IMPACT The amendment increases the payment limit on the existing contract by an additional $60,000 through the term of the contract ending June 31 , 1988. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS On July 7 , 1987 , the Agency entered into an agreement with Goldfarb & Lipman to provide for legal services to the Agency in connection with the Pleasant Hill BART Station Redevelopment Project and the North Richmond and West Pittsburg Redevelopment Projects. Contractual limits have been reached and it is apparent that additional services will be required prior to the end of the fiscal year. Additional work includes implementation of various . agreements and the amendment of the Pleasant Hill BART Station Area Redevelopment Plan. It is anticipated that an additional $60 , 000 will be sufficient to carry the Agency through the end of the fiscal year. Section 2'2 Additional Projects In addition to services provided in connection with the Pleasant Hill BART Station Area Redevelopment Project, the North Richmond Redevelopment Project, and the West Pittsburg Area Redevelopment Project, Contractor shall provide legal services as requested and directed by the Executive Director of the Agency, or his designee, in connection with other potential redevelopment projects in the unincorporated areas of the County. Section 3'1 Basic Fee The Contractor shall be compensated at the following hourly rates for the provision of all services set forth in section 3'2: Partner I85 Associate $llQ Paralegal $50 The parties estimate that the compensation for the services set forth in Section 2.1 of this contract shall not exceed ($135,000) ' This amount does not include services rendered by Agency staff, consultants hired directly by the Agency or consultants hired by the Contractor with prior written authorization by the � l Agency. The Contractor will not bill the Agency in excess of $135,000 for the provision of Basic Services without a written amendment of this Section 3.1. IN WITNESS HEREOF, theAgency and Contractorhave executed this amendment to agreement as of the ' h day o , 1988' This amendment is to be attached to the original contract dated July 7, 1987 on file with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, and made a part thereof.
