MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: MARCH 15, 1988 SUBJECT: APPROVE A CONSULTING SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH WOODWARD- CLYDE CONSULTANTS TO PREPARE AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL STUDY FOR THE WIDENING OF DANVILLE BOULEVARD AT HILLGRADE AVENUE IN ALAMO. PROJECT NO. 0676-6P4090-87. Specific Request(s) or Recommendations) & Background & Justification , I. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Board act on the following: 1. Approve the Consulting Services Agreement with Woodward- Clyde Consultants to prepare an Archaeological Study for the widening of Danville Boulevard at Hillgrade Avenue in the amount of $1,400. 2 . Authorize the Public Works Director to execute the Consulting Services Agreement with Woodward-Clyde Consultants. 'II. FINANCIAL IMPACT The study is funded 90 percent by the Federal Highway Administration and 10 percent by the County. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND The County will receive federal Hazard Elimination and Safety (HES) funds for the construction of a left turn lane on Danville Boulevard at the Hillgrade Avenue intersection. The Transportation Committee will review this matter on March 7, 1988. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION Failure to approve a Consulting Services Agreement for the study will result in inadequate environmental documentation and may result in the loss of funding for construction of the left turn lane project.
