RECOMENDED ACTION: Refer to the Internal Operations
Committee to consider the implementation of a program to bill drunken
drivers for damages resulting from their negligence. This matter
should also be refe red to the Sheriff for review.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The attached articles describe how
the cities of Antioch and El Cerrito have implemented a program to
make intoxicated drivers pay for their negligence.
