July 1, 1987 C C� SUBJECT: REVOLVING FUND SHORTAGE REPLACEMENT v SPECIFIC REQUESTS) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Authorize the Auditor-Controller to allocate $50. 85 to the Social Service Department Revolving Fund to replace missing petty cash and provide relief to the ;Sbcial Service Depart- ment from the shortage. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This amount has been included in the Department' s FY 86/87 budget. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: During May of 1987 a total of $50 . 85 was discovered missing from petty cash ( $0.75 from the Richmond District Office at 1305 McDonald Avenue and $50 .10 from the Sobrante Valley Office at 3630 San Pablo Dam Road) . Neither the shortage nor the delay in its discovery was caused by fraud or gross negligence. However, the Social Service Department has taken precautionary measures to lower the risk of future petty cash shortages. In addition to requesting an allocation to cover the shortage, the Director of the Social Service Department requests relief from the shortage.
