SUBJECT: Approval of Contract 4126-159 with the Regents of the University
of California (U .C . Davis School of Medicine Neurological
Surgery Department)
SPEC 1F1C REQUEST(S) Olt RECOMMCN3AT1ON(S ) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director to execute on
behalf of the County, Contract 4126-159 with the Regents of the
University of California (U. C . Davis School of Medicine
Neurological Surgery Department , effective July 1 , 1987 through
December 31, 1987 , with a contract payment limit of $50, 000 for
the provision of professional neurological surgery services in
the care of patients treated at County' s Merrithew Memorial
Hospital and Clinics .
II . FINANCIAL IMPACT :
This Contract. will be funded by County funds in the Department ' s
1987-88 Fiscal Year Budget . Approval of this Contract will
result in no net increase in County' s costs for neurological
surgery services as current services will be reduced or
modified . The services provided under this contract are
billable to patients and appropriate third party payors and
actual cost depends upon utilization .
III . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND :
On September 30, 1986 , the Board approved Contract 4126-151 with
U .C . Davis School of Medicine Neurology Department for provision
of professional neurology services .. This new Contract 4126-159 ,
which provides for neurological surgery services , expands our
affiliation with the University ' s School of Medicine .
This document has been approved by the Department ' s Contracts
and Grants Administrator in accordance with the guidelines
approved by the Board ' s Order of December 19 1981 (Guidelines
for contract preparation and processing, Health Services
Department) .
