RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-113-4 with American Shared Hospital Services effective March 1 , 1987 , which changes the effective date of Contract #26-113-3 and increases the Contract payment limit by an additional $28 , 243 . II . FINANCIAL IMPACT : Approval of this Contract Amendment Agreement which extends the Contract for one month to cover the month of March 1987 increases the Contract Payment Limit by $28, 243 from $450 , 000 to a new total payment limit of $478 , 423 . Funding for this contract is included in the Department ' s FY 1986-87 budget and the source of funds is the County. Actual cost to the County will depend upon utilization. III . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: For several years the County has contracted for mobile computer- ized tomographic scanning (C-T) services . Contract #26-113-2. with American Shared Hospital Services expired on February 2`8, 1987 , and Contract 426-113-3 , effective April 1 , 1987 was ap- proved by the Board on April 7 , 1987 . The Department has , _for sometime, been considering purchase of onsite c-t equipment , and when this possibility seemed imminent , the prior Contract was allowed to expire . Then, when the purchasing process did not move as quickly as anticipated , a new contract , effective April 1 , was executed , and the month of March was unintentionally left uncovered by a contract . In addition, the Department inadvertently neglected to communicate clearly with the Contractor , so that during the entire period, the Contractor continued to . provide services in good faith . Therefore , since the Contractor provided the c-t scanning ser- vices , needed by the County, during the month of March and is continuing to provide these vital services , it is recommended that this Contract Amendment Agreement be approved and executed .
