Request Supervisor Schroder to set up meetings with Senator Dan Boatwright and Assemblyman Bill Baker with the parents involved in the extended day care programs in the Walnut Creek School District in order to impress on Senator Boatwright and Assemblyman Baker the need for legislative solutions to the licensing problems faced by the parents as outlined in the Board Chair' s letter of May 20, 1987 to the Director, State Department of Social Services. 2. Request the County Administrator to report to our Committee July 13, 1987 on efforts to amend or introduce legislation to make the day care licensing requirements for school buildings more compatible with the standards established by the State Department of Education and on any responses received to the Board Chair' s letter of May 20th to the Director of the State Department of Social Services. BACKGROUND: On April 21, 1987, the Board requested . the County Administrator to review legislation introduced by Assemblyman Bates to determine whether it could be amended to relieve some of the problems identified by the parents and staff of the Walnut Creek School District. The Board also authorized the Chair to write to the State Department of Social Services on this issue. On June 8, 1987, our Committee received a status report from the County Administrator' s Office indicating that the County' s lobbyist was still working with staff from the State Department of Social Services and with Assemblyman Bates ' office in attempting to identify the exact nature of the problem involved, and determine whether administrative or legislative action is required in order to resolve the problem. These conversations are continuing and no final resolution to the problem has been identified as yet.
