RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve expenditure of $7,051.24 from Housing Authority Local Management Funds for implementation of the Camp Fire Crimebusters Program at Bayo Vista, CAL 11-10; El Pueblo, CAL 11-5, Pittsburg; and, Las Deltas, CAL 11-6, North Richmond, and authorize the Executive Director to execute the necessary agreement to implement the program, as recommended by the Advisory Housing Commission. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this program is available from Housing Authority Local Management Funds. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: A Crimebusters Program was operated successfully last year at both the Bayo Vista and El Pueblo Housing Developments and we have discussed arrangements with the Camp Fire office to expand the Crimebusters Program to include our North Richmond location in 1987. As a result, the Alameda-Contra Costa Council of the Camp Fire Program has submitted a proposal for Crimebusters Day Camps at Bayo Vista, Rodeo; E1 Pueblo, Pittsburg; and, Las Deltas, North Richmond. The program will serve an estimated 300 youth with the total cost of the program being $7,051.24. The Policy and Strategey Committee and the Budget Committee -of the Advisory Housing Commission have both reviewed and approved the Camp Fire Crimebusters proposal . On May 20, 1987 the Advisory Housing Commission voted to recommend approval of the Camp Fire Crimebusters Program proposal for a total expenditure of $7,051.24 from Housing Authority Local Management Funds and to authorize the Executive Director to execute the necessary agreement to implement the program. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Should the Board of Commissioners elect to not approve the expenditure of $7,051.24 from Housing Authority Local Management Funds to authorize the Camp Fire Crimebusters Program at Bayo Vista, CAL 11-10; El Pueblo, CAL 11-5; and, Las Deltas, CAL 11-6, North Richmond, the youth of those areas would be deprived of a valuable tool to assist them in fighting crime.
