Lovette on the ) RESOLUTION NO.87/268 Occasion of His Retirement ) as Superintendent of the ) Richmond Unified School District ) WHEREAS Richard W. Lovette is retiring from his position as Superintendent of the Richmond Unified School District after serving in that capacity for the past eleven years; and WHEREAS Richard W. Lovette has served in many positions during his tenure with the district including Teacher, Coach, Dean of Boys, Vice Principal, Principal, Coordinator of Flexible Scheduling, Director of Schools, Deputy Superintendent, and Superintendent; and WHEREAS Richard W. Lovette is a well respected leader in the field of education having written numerous articles, designed curricula, and spoken on a wide scope of issues related to 'education; and WHEREAS Richard W. Lovette has also served his country as a member of the United States Navy, retiring after six years with the rank of Lieutenant Commander; and WHEREAS Richard W. Lovette has selflessly given of himself by working long hours, volunteering in civic events and always striving to bring out the best for the district all in order to promote the interests of the students of the Richmond Unified School District; and WHEREAS Richard W. Lovette has been a friend to the people of Contra Costa County, working diligently in his various positions and serving as a fine example for all who have come in contact with him; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California, hereby CONGRATULATES Richard W. Lovette on the occasion of his retirement, COMMENDS his exceptional managerial and humane qualities that has allowed each of his employees to reach for and attain their best, and EXTENDS to Richard W. Lovette its best wishes for a happy and satisfying retirement. PASSED on May 12, 1987, by unanimous vote of the Board of members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered, on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
