FROM: J. MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
DATE: April 28, 1987
SUBJECT: Lone Tree Way Widening Design, Project No. 0662-6R4010-85
Specific Requests or Recommendation(s) & Background us ica ion
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve consulting services agreement with Nolte and Associates for engineering
services for the Lone Tree Way Widening Design.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The maximum contract cost which is not to be exceeded without written approval by
the Public Works Director is $60,002.98. It is to be funded by the State of
California (10%) and Federal funds (90%).
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
The project qualified as a Federal-Aid System Project in 1985 and will provide for a
through lane in each direction and a two-way left turn lane at three separate
intersections and in front of a high school .
The services of a consultant are required to complete the design because insufficient
staff presently exists to accomplish the work with County forces. Interviews were
conducted with four engineering consultants , and Nolte and Associates was selected
and submitted an acceptable proposal .
VI. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If engineering services are not provided by consultant, the completion of final
construction plans, will be delayed and the County could lose Federal-Aid Funds for
both design and construction of this project.
