SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Proclaim May 6, 1987 as National Nurses Day in Contra Costa County.
FINANCIAL IMPACT :
None.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND :
This year , May 6th has been designated as National Nurses Day by the
American Nurses Association .
National Nurses Day provides a focal point to show appreciation and express
gratitude to the nurses who care for our patient population . National
Nurses Day activities are designed to :
- foster a greater sense of unity among those who come in contact with
hospitals and clinics ;
- improve nursing employee morale by recognizing their contributions to the
medical profession and community; and
- provide an appropriate forum in which gratitude may be expressed to nurses
by employees , volunteers , medical staff members , patients and visitors .
