Appoint to the Human Relations Commission to fill an unexpired

BACKGROUND:
Unfortunately, Larry Crouchett has had to resign from the Human
Relations Commission. Our Committee has reviewed the
applications that were previously received for the Commission.
The 1986 Internal Operations Committee was impressed with Mrs.
Ingersoll' s interest in the Commission and her past work with
similar commissions in Southern California. We agree that Mrs.
Ingersoll would make an outstanding addition to the Commission
and are pleased to recommend her appointment to the full Board.
Mrs. Ingersoll' s application is attached.

While living and raising a family in Pasadena in the 50's, I became acutely aware of
racial tension as minorities moved into Pasadena/Altadena in substantial numbers (largely
because of restrictive covenants and real estate practices in nearby communities east and

County Human Relations Commission, especially in organizing local crisis resolution
committees. In 1960 I was employed for six months by American Friends Service Committee
