HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03031987 - 1.22 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF ) congratulating the Rotary ) Club of Walnut Creek for ) 50 years of community service) RESOLUTION NO. 87/115 WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Walnut Creek was founded on April 7, 1937 with a charter membership of 20 and now boasts a membership of 135; and WHEREAS, the Rotary Club is an organization of business and professional men which provides humanitarian services and encourages high ethical standards in all vocations; and WHEREAS, some of the outstanding accomplishments of the Rotary Club of Walnut Creek have been funding of the TEL-MED Services at John Muir Hospital, donation of a van for the handicap to the City of Walnut Creek, a donation of $15,000 for a trail system to the Walnut Creek School District, donation to the Girl Scout Shelter in Lafayette and financing the construction of a house on Figi Island for hurricane victims; and WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Walnut Creek is presently involved in the funding of an indoor tide pool exhibit for the Alexander Lindsay Junior Museum. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County commends the outstanding contribution of this dedicatd Service Club and extends congratulations for the celebration of its 50 Golden Years of existance. Passed and adopted by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 3rd day of March. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
