HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03171987 - 1.1 (2) IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming ) April 1987 "Is Your Number Up ) RESOLUTION NO. 87/145 Awareness Month" ) WHEREAS emergency services personnel have observed that many residents within Contra Costa County and the Contra Costa County Fire Districts do not have their home address numbers posted so they can be easily seen from the street; and WHEREAS the Contra Costa County Fire Districts and other emergency services personnel are dedicated to saving lives and protecting property; and WHEREAS visible address numbers are essential to insure prompt response of all emergency personnel; and WHEREAS it is advantageous to the citizens of our community to be aware that in any emergency situation, seconds can mean the difference between life and death, and an obstructed or incomplete address number can hinder response of emergency personnel; and WHEREAS the 1985 Uniform Fire Code states that approved numbers or addresses shall be placed on all new and existing buildings in such a position as to be plainly visisble and legible from the street or road fronting the property and said numbers shall contrast with their background; NOW THEREFORE IT IS RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County that the month of April 1987 is hereby PROCLAIMED "Is Your Number Up Awareness Month" in Contra Costa County, and that all citizens of the County are called upon to initiate action to install address numbers on all buildings and residential occupancies so that they can be easily seen from the street. PASSED on March 17 , 1987 by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
