REASONS FOR RECO*!ENDATION/BACKGROUND: Cash shortages occurred in the Inmate Cash Fund between April 1, 1988 and February 28, 1989 in the amount of $3,324.62. This amount consists of $327.83 from the Marsh Creek Detention Facility and $2,996.62 from the Martinez Detention Facility. The shortages in inmate cash were the result of various reasons, including employee error, computer system malfunctions, and the release of inmates with negative accounts.
