I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute on behalf of the County, Extension
Agreement 4129-320-1 with Richmond Unified School District to extend Reciprocal
Service Agreement #29-320 (effective September 1, 1985 - June 30, 1986) through
August 15, 1986 for the . Special Education Program for developmentally disabled
children at County's George Miller, Jr. Memorial Center, West with a $5,532.60
increase in the total payment to County by the School District.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Approval of this extension will result in an increase in the payment by the School
District to the County of $5,532.60, from $36,396 to a new total payment limit of
$41,928.60.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
On October 1, 1985 the Board approved Reciprocal Service Agreement 4129-320 _with
Richmond Unified School District for the Special Education Program for developmen-
tally disabled children at County's George Miller, Jr. Memorial Center, West. The
School District has notified the County that .it intends to relocate the special
education classes for its next school year, but cannot vacate the Miller Center
until their extended year program is complete, and requested extension of the
Reciprocal Service Agreement through August 15, 1986.
Under the Reciprocal Service Agreement , the School District provides administra-
tive, custodial, and instructional staff, and related supplies to operate the
Special Education Program at the Miller Center. The County provides classrooms,
office space, staff room, other facilities such as the playground, and administra-
tive and grounds maintenance for which the County has been paid $3,639.60 per
month. Extension Agreement 4129-320-1 extends the term of the agreement through
August 15, 1986, as requested by the School District, and increases the total
amount paid to County.
This Extension Agreement has been approved as to legal form by County Counsel's
Office.
