HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06101986 - X.10 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF ) Contra Costa Council 's) 50th Anniversary ) RESOLUTION NO. 86/330 WHEREAS, the Contra Costa Council (formerly the Contra Costa Development Association) was founded in 1936; and WHEREAS, the Contra Costa Council serves as a County Chamber of Commerce, encouraging businesses to locate within Contra Costa County, providing new jobs and enhancing the tax base; and WHEREAS, the Council studies, monitors and works toward solving major issues in the County, including transportation, housing, water, waste management, economic development, education, recreation and culture; and WHEREAS, the Council affords communication and understanding among the economic development community and local , regional , state and national officials, providing forums for business, labor and government; and WHEREAS, in 1983, the Contra Costa Council declared its independence from County funding and quickly demonstrated its ability to function autonomously; and WHEREAS, the Council now boasts a membership of more than 450 and has earned the respect and recognition of both the public and private sector; and WHEREAS, recent achievements, among many, have been the publishing of an "Annual Directory of Selected Businesses", publishing the "Focus I-680/24 Inter- change", establishing the "International Trade Council " to further interest and provide resources on international trade in the County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County that the Contra Costa Council is honored on its 50th Anniversary; and it is FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Contra Costa Council is commended for its many contributions to the citizens of Contra Costa County for its many contribu- tions to economic welfare and quality of life. Passed and adopted by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 10th day of June. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date afore- said.
