BACKGROUND: At the conclusion of the Board' s hearing May 6, 1986 on the recommendations of the Hazardous Waste Task Force, the Board requested that the motion adopted May 6 be listed again on the Determination calendar May 13 so all Board Members would have an opportunity to vote on the motion. We understand the Board' s motion to .be as follows: That the Board of Supervisors accepts the report of the Hazardous Waste Task Force and approves recommendations 1-56 except as follows: 1) Recommendations 1-55 are approved as submitted by the Task Force. 2) General finding and recommendation #14 on page 19 of the full report, is reworded as follows for the purpose of clarification: 14. A major goal of the Board of Supervisors must be to reduce the 400,000 tons which are presently being disposed of . This can be accomplished by more efficient treatment or recycling which directly reduces the volume of hazardous waste which must be disposed of from the same production stream, or through source reduction, thereby reducing the volume of waste which must be disposed of using similar technology.
