III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
For over ten years the County has participated in the WIC Program with the State.
This is a mandated program under the Community Health Services Division of the
State Department of Health Services. On November 19, 1985, the Board approved
Contract #29-203-28 with the State Department of Health Services for continuation
through September 30, 1,986 of the WIC Program operated by the Public Health
Division of the Health Services Department . Approval of Funding _Application
429-203-29 will allow continuation of the program through September 30, 1987. The
State increased last year's grant by only four percent . County employees received
an average of an eight percent raise, therefore, the State funding no longer covers
the full cost of program personnel.
