Therefore, Supervisor McPeak recommended that Community Development Department staff prepare a letter to the Martinez City Council requesting the Council- to require an EIR prepared on the Stauffer project. Supervisor Nancy Fanden concurred. She expressed concern as to the impact this could have on transportation routes with the number of trucks transporting hazardous waste to Dow Chemical and IT facilities as well as the Stauffer incineration facility. She referred to the proposal for the construction of another bridge con- necting Martinez and Benicia and the expansion of the present bridge to relieve traffic congestion. Supervisor Fanden recommended that the Contra Costa Transportation Advisory Committee (CCTAC) review the feasibility of having one lane of the bridge limited to truck traffic only upon completion of the improvements to the existing bridge. Supervisor Tom Powers advised that he would prefer to have staff review the proposals of Supervisors McPeak and Fanden prior to making a decision this day.
