May 6, 1986 County SUBJECT: Legislation: Senate Bill 2250 (Richardson) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION• Adopt a position of support for SB 2250 by Senator Richardson. BACKGROUND: Existing law requires a person who has been convicted of a crime, but has completed the terms of his or her probation, to disclose the conviction in response to any direct question contained in a questionnaire or application for public office or for licensure by any State or local agency. Senator Richardson has introduced SB 2250 which, in addition, would require an individual to disclose such a conviction in response to any direct question contained in any questionnaire or application for public employment. This additional requirement is consistent with employment practices in Contra Costa County in which the County' s application form asks whether the applicant has even been convicted of an offense. The Director of Personnel recommends that the Board of Supervisors support SB 2250 and this office concurs with this recommendation. t I CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: YES SIGNATURE: //• RECOMMENDATION OF COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE APPROVE O/THHER, SIGNATURE(S)'.
