TO: Board of Supervisors, Contra Costa County
FROM: Phil Batchelor, County Administrator
DATE: April 8, 1986
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE OPTION TO PURCHASE REAL PROPERTY FOR THE
EAST COUNTY SOCIAL SERVICE BUILDING
SPECIFIC REQUESTS(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS A BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action: APPROVE an Amendment to the Option to Purchase Real Property,
Delta Fair Boulevard and Standard Oil Avenue, Antioch, California, between the
City of Antioch and 'the Contra Costa County Public Facilities Corporation for the
proposed East County Social Service Office.
II. Financial Impact: The price of the property will be reduced from $906,000 to
reflect the actual square footage to be acquired as determined by an engineer.
The price is based on the rate of $4 per square foot for the parcel and $2 .per
square foot for the easement. The approximate total is $884,000. Payment will
be made from the proceeds of the bond sale financing for acquisition and
construction of the project for the Social Service Department.
III. Reasons for Recommendations/Background: The amendment is necessary to reflect
the actual changes to the property that were unknown at the time the original
option was acquired. Once the property is encumbered by the bonds it is very
difficult to make further changes.
