for Resource and Development, to meet with our Committee on
June 23 , 1986 and share with us what the City of Concord is
doing regarding these and related child care issues.
BACKGROUND:
On December 3 , 1985, the Child Care Task Force reported to the
Board on their conclusions and recommendations. The report was
referred to the County Administrator and appropriate Board
Commitees. This was clarified on March 26, 1986 to refer the
report to the Internal Operations Committee.
On April 28, 1986 we received a report from the County
Administrator' s Office summarizing the actions being taken by the
Community Development Department to respond to the Task Force' s
recommendation. We also met with representatives of the
Children' s Council who oppose the formation of a new, separate
organization to coordinate child care resources in the County.
We have thus included a recommendation aimed at evaluating the
extent to which the Children' s Council is in a position to
undertake these additional responsibilities. Following the
additional reports we have requested on June 23 , our Committee
will be in a position to make further recommendations to the
Board.
