In the past year, the Video Alliance has been successful in several other accomplishments, the most notable of which are: A. spearheading the Community Access Booth at the County Fair, a project in which Viacom Cablevision, Televents Community Television Network, Concord TV Cable, and United Artists Cable Systems jointly participated; B. launching Contra Costa Television (CCTV) , a cooperative effort between community access coordinators from the companies mentioned above, who carry simultaneous programming one night per week through distribution services provided by the County Office of Education, Educational Media Services (E.M.S. ) . In November 1985, the Board of Directors of the Contra Costa Alliance for the 'Arts voted unanimously to support the Video Alliance in its efforts to become an independent, public-benefit, nonprofit corporation. In view of the growing importance of community access cable television in Contra Costa County, it was determined that an independent organization along these lines could best serve the needs of the video community. Our Committee met with representatives of the Video Alliance on April 14 and reviewed their proposed budget, a copy of which is attached. We believe that allocation of the requested $2,250, along with efforts to locate more adequate space for the Alliance will further the Board' s goals of establishing a truly viable community services Cable TV system in this County and we, therefore, make the above recommendations.
