RECOMMENDED ACTION Approve the fol lowing -Workfare`:�Program Nonftnand al 'Worksite Agreements. and authorize the Dirdctor "Social "Service Department to execute said agreements as follows: Number of Agency Term Work Slots 20-558 Pacific Community Services 6-15-85 to 6-30-86 6 20-559 Community Food Coalition 6-15-85 to 6-30-86 30 20-560 North Richmond Neighborhood House 7-01-85 to 6-30-86 24 II. FINANCIAL IMPACT The agreements being recommended are nonfinancial but will provide work slots for General Assistance employable recipients. There are potential savings to the County, if the General Assistance roles are reduced. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND The Board approved 14 other agreements on June 4, 1985 as part of implementation. of the October 9, 1984 board order which authorized expansion of the General Assistance (GA) Employables Program. With addition of the agreements specified above the number of available work slots considerably surpasses the October 9, 1984 projected target of 300. The purpose of Workfare is to provide constructive work experience for General Assistance employables. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION Agencies indicating a desire to participate in Workfare would be precluded from doing so. EH/dc Attach.
