The money is in .the budget and will go to the Governor on June 15 for approval. The flooding of Little Frank' s Tract and the erosion of the Frank' s Tract berm are two problems in the Frank' s Tract State Recreation Area. A study will be done this fall on the best way to replace the berm around Frank' s Tract. It is critically important that the state fix the Little Frank' s Tract levees to protect the levees around Jersey, Bradford, Webb and Bethel Island from additional wave exposure. The cost for such a repair job is at least $1 million. This money has been appropriated by the Legislature from the Parklands Bond Act. The Department of Parks and Recreation has opposed spending any of this money on Frank' s Tract. _ The above points were made in a letter I recently received from Assemblyman Isenberg who emphasized it is critical that letters be sent to the Governor requesting that the $1 million in the Parklands Bond Act money be left in the budget for Frank' s Tract. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Refer this matter to the County Administrator to send a letter to the Governor urging his support for the $1 million repair project for Little Frank' s Tract.
