On or about January 14 , 1985 , the Clerk of this Board received from the United Professional Firefighters union a Petition to reorganize the Riverview Fire Protection District by changing the Governing Board of the District . The Petition was submitted by 50 or more petitioners pursuant to Chapter 11 of Part 2 .7 of Division 12 (S§13975-13989) of the Health & Safety Code of the State of California. 2 . The Petition seeks to reorganize the District by changing the method of governing the District from governance by the County Board of Supervisors as ex officio the Supervising Authority and Board of Directors to governance by a five-member elected board . 3 . This Board hereby fixes Tuesday , July 30 , 1985 , at 10: 30 a.m. in the chambers of the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, 651 Pine Street , Martinez, California as the time and place of the public hearing on the proposed reorganization. All interested persons may appear and be heard at that time , and any protests to the proposed reorganization will be received at that time . 4 . This Board hereby directs that the Petition, along with a .copy of this notice, be published in the Contra Costa Times , a newspaper of general circulation published in the County, once a week for the two weeks prior to the hearing. 5. That we the undersigned, being taxpayers or registered voters residing within the boundaries of the Riverview Fire Protection District ( "District" ) as hereinafter described, formed July . 1 , 1975, respectfully petition the said Board of Supervisorslto take such steps and proceedings as may be required by law to reorganize the governing board of said District under and pursuant to Chapter 11 , Part 2.7 of Division 12 of the Health & Safety Code of the State of California known as the Fire Protection District Law of 1961 . ' II . That said proposed reorganization of the governing board of the District will effect a change only in the form of the district government, in that the Board of Directors shall be composed of five members to be elected as soon as possible under the provisions of Health & Safety Code Section 13835. That said District, when reorganized, will perform I the same services it now performs within its existing boundaries. IV. The boundaries of the District hereinabove referred to are described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof. V. That all of the territory within said boundaries is situated within and is a part of the County of Contra Costa, State of California. Vi. . That this petition is made pursuant to Sections 13975 et seq- of the California Health & Safety Code. t VII . That each of the individuals who has signed this petition is a taxpayer or registered voter within the territory included in the Riverview Fire Protection District. II .
