There is the possibility that several of the contracts could be deleted from the FY 85-86 County budget and the three-month extensions of these contracts could result in inappropriate expenditure of County funds. In addition, several of the contracts may be increased or decreased for FY 85-86 and these payments would be adjusted through Novation agreements. During this interim period it has been customary in past years to extend existing County funded contracts pending adoption of the County Budget so as not to cause interruption of service.. In addition, by extending the existing contracts, financial hardship on. the contractors is minimized, some of whom have not had adequate notice to allow them to make alternate plans for funding of their services. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION Services as listed above would be inappropriately .terminated with possible negative consequences to the community, the clients served, and the contractors involved.
