SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF STANDARD AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA STATE DEPARTMENT OF AGING
#29-002-39 AND APPROVAL OF NOTICE OF GRANT AWARD #29-002-38
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) $ BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve and authorize the Director, Office on Aging, to sign .a Subgrant
Award #29-002-38 for FY 84-85 in the amount of $5,776 for funding added;
responsibilities to the Ombudsman program :&,in addition, sign a Standard
Agreement #29-002-39 for FY 84-85 in the amount of $1,000 for expenses
incurred by the Advisory Council on Aging in conducting the local election
of California Senior Legislators.
II , FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Subgrant Award #29-002-38 will bring $5,776 for additional Ombudsman
services to the Office on Aging budget with no additional County match
required. Standard Agreement #29-002-39 will bring an additional $1,000
to the Office on Aging budget with no additional County match required.
A III . BACKGROUND
The Governor signed SB 53 appropriating funds to the California State
Department of Aging Office of the State Long Term Care Ombudsman to carry
out the provisions of Section 9726.1 of the Welfare and Institution Code.
These provisions are new responsibilities for the Ombudsman program. The
California State Department of Aging allocated $5,776 to Contra Costa County
through approval of the attached Subgrant Award Amendment #29-002-38.
Said Subgrant Award Amendment is for FY 84-85. With. the additional $5,776
it will allow Contra Costa County to be in compliance with W & I Code Section
9726.1 by carrying out the additional new responsibilities of the Ombudsman
program.
Standard Agreement #29-002-39 with the California State Department of Aging
for FY 84-85 in. the amount of $1,000 is for expenses incurred by the,
Advisory Council on Aging in conducting the local election of California
Senior Legislators. The election took place in April .
