BACKGROUND: AB 667 , among other things, changes the date of the Primary election from June to September. The Assistant County Registrar, Lon Underwood, has indicated that he needs a minimum of three months between the Primary and the General Election in order to provide all of the mandated services to the voters that are required by the California Elections Code. Having a Primary election in September, with the General Election scarcely eight weeks later, will not provide the Elections staff with sufficient time to carry out all of these mandates and prepare adequately for the General Election. Because of the administrative problems this bill would cause, Mr. Underwood has recommended that the Board oppose AB 667 and this office concurs with Mr. Underwood' s recommendation. &;"1CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: YES SIGNATURE: G X RECOMMENDATION OF COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE _X APPROVE OTHER SIGNATURE(S) ACTION OF BOARD ON May 7, 1985 APPROVED AS RECOMMENDED OTHER VOTE OF SUPERVISORS ..— UNANIMOUS (ABSENT ).
