HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04091985 - 1.36 �P IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming ) May 2, 1985 as a National ) RESOLUTION NO. 85/163 Day of Prayer ) WHEREAS the United States of America began with a national dependence on the Providence of God and the freedom of religion; and WHEREAS in 1775 the Continental Congress proclaimed the first National Day of Prayer; and WHEREAS by joint resolution of Congress in April 1952 the recognition of a particular day set aside each year as a National Day of Prayer has become a cherished national tradition; and WHEREAS in recognition of the ever-increasing blessings and abundance God has bestowed on our nation, we join with the rest of our nation in observance of a National Day of Prayer on May 2, 1985; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby PROCLAIM May 2, 1985 as a National Day of Prayer, and call upon all citizens of Contra Costa County to gather together to pray, each after his or her own manner, giving thanks to God for the blessings He has bestowed on us and remembering those of our society who are in need of help. PASSED by the Board of Supervisors on April 9, 1985 by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
