FROM: Arthur C. Miner, Director
Private Industry Council Costa
DATE: April 22, 1985 County
.SUBJECT:
RESIGNATION FROM PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND-AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
1) Acknowledge receipt of the resignation of Robert J. Mimiaga, representing
Business (minority) on the Private Industry Council of Contra Costa County
(PIC);
2) Issue a Certificate of Appreciation to Mr. Mimiaga for his services to the
Council;
3) Refer this Business (minority) Category appointment to the Internal Operation
Committee for consideration of business (minority) nominations submitted
by the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce, for a term to end September 30, 198E
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
The Governor has appointed Robert Mimiaga to the State Job Training
Coordinating Council, (State advisory entity to the Governor on the Job
Training Partnership Act); a letter of resignation from the PIC is
attached. Mr. Mimiaga has been a member on the Council since July 26,
1983; his term expires on September 30, 1986.
In accordance with the Job Training Partnership Act (DTPA) Legislation,
Section 102 (22) (f) "any vacancy in the membership of the Council shall be
filled in the same manner as the original appointment." Therefore, the
appointment to the business (minority) category must be selected form a
single list of nominations submitted by the County Chambers of Commerce.
As with the initial PIC appointment process, the Walnut Creek Chamber of
Commerce has agreed to receive nominations from other County Chambers and
compile a single list of nominations for consideration by the Internal
Operations Committee. The County Chambers of Commerce will be notified of
this vacancy and the appropriate nominating process. Since JTPA
regulations require a minimum of one minority business representative,
staff is recommending the Board acknowledge receipt of the resignation at
this time, and accept the resignation when a new minority business
representative is appointed.
