The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ordains as follows
(omitting the parenthetical footnotes from the official text of
the enacted or amended provisions of the County Ordinance Code) :
SECTI_O_N I . SITi4' IARY. This ordinance will add Chief Deputy Sheriff
to the list of classes and positions which are excluded from the
County ' s merit system.
SRCTION II . Section 33-5 . 311 of the County Ordinnnee Coda is
amended, to make Chief Deputy Sheriff an exempt position , to read :
33-5 .311 District attorney And sheriff .
(a) Investigators , detectives and others , paid
from the special fund- furnished to the
district Attorney and sheriff under Government
Code Sections 29400 ff . find 29430 ff . , are
excluded.
(b) In the district attorney ' s office ,
senior deputy district attorneys -exempt , spe-
cial counsel , and special detectives , are
excluded.
(c) Two assistant sheriffs and one chief
deputy sheriff are excluded . (Ords . 85- 29

SECTION I11 . EFFECTIVE DATE .
This ordinance becomes effective 30 drys after passage, and within
15 days after passage shall be published once, with the names of
the supervisors voting for and against it , in the Martinez
News gazette -------, a newspaper published in this County. -
