WHEREAS the future of our State and Nation depends substan-
tially upon the continued productivity of Californias soils; and
WHEREAS this continued productivity requires a reduction of
the erosion that results in 6.4 billion tons of soil being destroyed
each year; and
WHEREAS the responsibility to practice and promote good land
management measures that conserve our valuable soil resources is shared
by all citizens; and
WHEREAS State and Federal agencies, groups and individuals
are renewing their commitment to work together to reduce the erosion
problem in California by 15 percent by 1989; and
WHEREAS the California Association of Resource Conservation
Districts is commemorating 50 years of soil and water conservation
efforts in California:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
of Contra Costa County does hereby PROCLAIM April 1985 as "Soil
Conservation Month" in Contra Costa County.
PASSED by the Board of Supervisors on April 23, 1985 by
unanimous vote of the Board members present.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors
on the date aforesaid.
