NOES: None. ABSENT: None. ABSTAIN: None. SUBJECT: Diesel Particulate ) Emission Standards ) RESOLUTION NO. 85/ 117 WHEREAS this Board on February 5 , 1985 , received a letter from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District urging that it support the position of said District on a more stringent standard for diesel emissions from truck and bus engines; and WHEREAS the action of the Board of Directors of the Air Quality Management District was to adopt a resolution calling upon the Environmental Protection Agency to tighten its proposed standards for these vehicles in line with those proposed by the Air Resources Board of the State of California; and WHEREAS in report dated February 26, 1985, the Health Services Depart- ment__concurs in the request of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District; and WHEREAS the report of the Health Services Director finds that increasing diesel emissions are a public health concern to the people of Contra Costa County; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS SUPPORTS .the position of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District that the Environmental Protection Agency should adopt a more stringent particulate emission standard for heavy duty vehicles, a standard at least as stringent as that recommended by the Air Resources Board of the State of California. 1 hereby certify that this is a ttdb end correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supe rs on the daly shown. 0 ATTESTEDc /�6 S PHIL BATCHELOR, Clerk of the Board of Supervisors and County Administrator J By , Deputy Orig.
