Miner, Director Contra FROM: Private Industry Council Costa DATE: February 20, 1985 County RESIGNATIONS FROM ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON THE EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC STATUS OF WOMEN SUBJECT: SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION Recommendation 1) That the Board ACCEPT the resignations (attached) of Kathleen Barry, representing the District III Category, and Judy Maddox, representing Clerical Employees Category on the Advisory Committee on the Employment and Economic Status of Women; 2) That the Clerk of the Board POST the District III Category vacancy and Clerical Employees Category vacancy in accordance with existing Board policy; 3) That the Board REFER the Clerical Employees Category vacancy to the Internal Operations Committee for appointment consideration; and, REFER the District III Category vacancy to Supervisor Schroder for appointment consideration; 4) That the Board ISSUE Certificates of Appreciation to Ms. Barry and Ms. Maddox for services to the. Advisory Committee. Background Due to other commitments and time constraints, Ms. Kathleen Barry, representing District III Category, and Ms. Judy Maddox, representing Clerical Employees Category, have submitted letters of resignation from the Advisory Committee on the Employment and Economic Status of Women. The term for both categories expire on February 28, 1986. Ms. Kathleen Barry was appointed by the Board of Supervisors on December 16, 1980, served as Chair of the Women's Advisory Committee in 1981, served as the Advisory Committee's representative to the County Economic Development Task Force, and was instrumental in preparing the Advisory Committee's report to the Board on "Women in Contra Costa County: Economic, Employment and Training Status." Ms. Maddox was appointed by the Board of Supervisors on May 22, 1984; she has actively participated at all committee meetings and has contributed a tremendous amount of insight and expertise to issues that have come before the committee.
