MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: March 19, 1985 SUBJECT: HEARING ON TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT ARTICLE III BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN PRIORITIES LIST FOR FISCAL YEAR 1985/86 Specific Requests or Recommendations & Background & Justification RECOMMENDATION Approve Contra Costa County' s Transportation Development Act Article III Bicycle/Pedestrian Priority List for Fiscal Year 1.985/86, and forward it to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) by April 1 for final approval and allocation of funding: Priority City Project Amount 1 Lafayette Mt. Diablo Bike Lanes $ 56,200 . 2 El Cerrito Santa Fe right of way $ 99,000 Gladys to Stockton Ave. Walnut Creek Ygnacio Canal Bicycle Trail $145,800 San Carlos Dr to Hutchinson 4 Contra Costa County Southern Pacific right of way $ 22,000 Trail gates - Las Trampas Rd to Wayne Ave 5 Pleasant Hill Pleasant Hill Rd - Lucinda Dr $ 57,000 to Grayson Lane TOTAL $380,000 BACKGROUND The Urban Systems Technical Advisory Committee (USTAC) composed of City, County and Caltrans engineers, MTC and various transit authorities met on February 8, 1985, and approved the 1985/86 Bicycle/Pedestrian Priority List for Contra Costa County in accordance with Resolu- tion No. 78/505. USTAC recommended the Board of Supervisors approve the list and forward it to MTC for funding allocation. On March 7, 1985 , the Contra Costa County Mayors' Conference met and approved the 1985/86 Bicycle/Pedestrian Priority List as recommended by USTAC. On March 2.8, 1985 , the Priority List will be presented to the Contra Costa County Transpor- tation Advisory Committee (CCTAC) . Mr. James See, Public Works Director of the City of Pleasant Hill and Chairman of the Bicycle Subcommittee for USTAC, recommended the Board approve the Priority List and forward it to MTC.
