TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Contra
FROM: Supervisor Tom' Torlakson
Costa
DATE: March 12, 1985 County
SUBJECT: EAST COUNTY FIRE FACILITIES 7
I
SPECIFIC REOUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Refer to ,the County Administrator' s
Office to send a letter to the Cities of Antioch and Pittsburg
recommending a joint meeting with the county to discuss the
issues of the General Plan adoption of the Fire Facilities Master
Plan--Public Facilities Element, the question of fire fees and
revenue to implement the station relocation plan and other issues
as it pertains to a coordinated plan for fire services.
Furthermore, refer to the Internal Operations Committee to work
up the agenda and background information from the county' s point
of view for this meeting.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The pace of growth in East County
is exceeding even a faster pace than was projected by the fire
officials. During a recent tour with the staff of the Riverview
Fire Protection District, I became aware of this fact as it
effects the site relocation plan of the Riverview fire district.
The need to discuss the station plans, the capital facilities
master plan of the county and the question of fire fees are
issues deserving special attention by the cities in cooperation
with the county as the fire commissioners of the Riverview Fire
District.
