HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03121985 - 1.31 /,3 / THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on March 12, 1985, by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, McPeak, Torlakson and Fanden NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Schroder I ABSTAIN: None RESOLUTION NO. 85/127 SUBJECT: Request Continuation of Funding for United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, Countywide. WHEREAS the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, via Public Law 566, has solved severe flooding problems for this County in the Marsh Creek and Pine Creek Watersheds; and WHEREAS two remaining projects within the Marsh-Kellogg Watershed work plan still remain to be completed; and WHEREAS the Soil Conservation Service provided emergency stream bank repairs and technical assistance in the design of repairs in the aftermath of the 1982 and 1983 storms; and WHEREAS the Soil Conservation Service continues to provide much needed assistance in the areas of stream bank erosion, soil classification mapping, erosion control , and hydraulic analysis to our County's Resource Conservation District and Flood Control District; and WHEREAS this Board, as the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County and as the Governing Board of the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, has learned that the President's Budget for Fiscal Year 1986 severely reduces the funding level for the Soil Conservation Service to the point of its extinction. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Board RECOMMENDS that the Soil Conservation Service Budget allocation for FY 1986 be maintained at the same level as FY 1985. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board hereby REQUESTS the assistance of Senators Alan Cranston and Pete Wilson and Congressmen Ronald Dellums and George Miller and in securing sufficient funding for FY 1986 to maintain the Soil Conservation Service at its FY 1985 funding level . 1 hereby Caroly that this h a true end wrra.rt co".7f an action teten and o:atersd--%n ft c:inutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
