Harvey Bragdon , Assistant Director of Planning , advised the Board that the Orinda Area Planning Commission had voted in favor of the vacation of Bryant Way , and also recommended that the Board make a determination on the vacation of Bryant Way before making a decision on the Orinda Crossroads project; and J . Michael Walford , Public Works Director , advised the Board that this land had been acquired by the State of California in 1936 from East Bay Municipal Utility District , that the State relinquished Bryant Way to the County, and commented that , in his opinion , there was no longer a need for Bryant Way to continue to be a publicly maintained road , stating that this road had no substan- tial traffic at all , and advised that if the County vacated Bryant Way it would revert to the East Bay Municipal Utility District; and Clark Wallace appeared and addressed some of the con- cerns which had been raised by citizens in the Orinda area, with respect to traffic and parking issues , and advised that , in his opi- nion , Bryant Way was surplus property which was functionally imprac- tical and economically infeasible , and was no longer needed as part of the public road system in the Orinda area; and The Chairman opened the public hearing; and The following persons spoke in opposition to the vaca- tion of Bryant Way: I . L . Krettingen , 41 Bobolink Road , Orinda; ' Mrs . T . N . Krettingen , 41 Bobolink Road , Orinda; Clarence Betz, representing the Orinda Chamber of Commerce; Aldo P . Guidotti , representing the Orinda Chamber of Commerce; Ivan Goyak , representing the Orinda Chamber of Commerce; Serge Ottino , representing the Orinda Chamber of Commerce; Jim Lucas , representing the Orinda Chamber of Commerce; Glen Tobias , representing the Orinda Association; Jim Rothe , representing the Orinda Association; Sarge Littlehale , representing the Orinda Association; Supervisor Schroder advised that he would have to leave the meeting due to a prescheduled appointment with the Walnut Creek City Council , and recommended that the Board continue the public hearing and defer decision on this matter to a later date in order to give the Board members sufficient time to review all of the information that had been received at the public hearing; and Supervisor Fanden concurred , and commented that she felt it would be appropriate to have all Board members present before making a decision on this matter; and Supervisor Torlakson recommended that the Board proceed with the public hearing at this time as there were several cards which had been submitted by persons wishing to testify; and Cathy Merrill , representing the Orinda Association , appeared; and T. 6 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on June 26, 1984 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Hearing on Development Plan 3055-82, Orinda Area The Board on May 29, 1984, continued to this day the hearing on the appeal of the Orinda Area Planning Commission approval of Development Plan 3055-82, Crossroads Associates (applicant and owner) , Orinda area. Following staff's presentation, the Chair opened the hearing and all persons desiring to speak were heard. At the conclusion of the Board's discussion on this matter, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the hearing is CLOSED and decision DEFERRED.
