SUBJECT: -Proposed Future State University Site
off Ygnacio Valley Road in Concord
The County Administrator brought to the attention of the
Board a letter dated June 14, 1984 from State Senator Daniel E.
Boatwright advising that the Commission on California State Government
Organization and Economy (The Little Hoover Commission) will be hold-
ing a hearing on June 27, 1984 in Sacramento to determine the feasi-
bility of the State selling 380 acres of land in the vicinity of
Ygnacio Valley Road in Concord that was originally purchased as a
State University site. Senator Boatwright referred to previous
legislative attempts in the last few years !to authorize the sale of
the land and the strong opposition voiced by the Contra Costa County
legislative delegation. He requested the Board to again take a
position of opposition to the proposed sale and transmit said posi-
tion to the Commission.
Board members noted that the proposed site is within the
City of Concord and were in agreement that ,a letter should be sent
to the City of Concord stating said position and requesting the City
Council to review its General Plan for possible amendment to designate
the site for education.
IT IS SO ORDERED.
