Adopted this Order on June 19 , 1984 , by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Powers., Fanden, Schroder, ,Torlakson
NOES: None
ABSENT: Supervisor McPeak
ABSTAIN: None
SUBJECT: Juvenile Hall Playfield Project
The Board received a June 4, 1984 memorandum from Gerald S.
Buck, County Probation Officer, advising that the necessary funds
to improve the playfield at the Juvenile Hall complex have been raised
and construction should be completed by September 30 , 1984 . When
complete this project will provide, for the first time in the 34
year history of the Juvenile Hall , a turfed and irrigated playfield
surface for the 3 ,000 children who reside Sat the complex each year.
Mr. Buck acknowledged the assistance of the Juvenile Hall
Auxiliary in obtaining donors , such as the $10 ,000 grant from the
Stulsaft Foundation and a $38 , 000 commitment from the Hedco Foundation,
as well as the construction portion of the project which has been
provided by the U. S. Navy Seabee Unit at Alameda. Mr. Buck requested
that upon completion of the project an appropriate dedication ceremony
be scheduled and recognition extended to the Juvenile Hall Auxiliary,
the Seabees and the Stulsaft and Hedco Foundations .
IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the request of the County
Probation Officer is APPROVED.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the County Probation Officer and
the County Administrator are AUTHORIZED to make the required arrange-
ments for said dedication.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Certificates of Commendation
are AUTHORIZED for the aforesaid volunteers for their outstanding
efforts on the Juvenile Hall Playfield Project.
