HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06121984 - X.9 a , THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on June 12, 1984 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Request for Review of Retirement Board Election Procedures Supervisor Robert I. Schroder brought to the attention of the Board a letter dated June 11, 1984 from Michael G. Ross, candidate for a position on the Retirement Board, questioning election proce- dures with respect to the ease of duplicating ballots and the absence of a verification method for voters' signatures. He requested the Board to eliminate the occurrence of any problems referenced above for the June 19, 1984 election by requiring the Elections Division to verify voter signatures against employee signatures contained in the records of the Retirement Office, and a proposal to revise the Retirement Board election procedures so that steps can be taken to eliminate the possibility of ballot duplication in future elections. The Chairman also noted that a letter was received from Richard Cabral, candidate for a position on the Retirement Board, listing certain irregularities in the campaign process with respect to utilization of County resources and staff in the preparation and dissemination of campaign literature. Board members discussed the issues presented and were in agreement that the procedure requires further review. There being no further discussion, IT IS ORDERED that the County Administrator, County Counsel and Elections Supervisor are REQUESTED to review the procedure for the election of Retirement Board members, and in particular, those issues as referenced above. hereby certify that this to a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the ms.WLYes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
