Contra
FROM: C. E. Dixon, Interim County Administrator
Costa
DATE: June 6, 1984 Couqy
SUBJECT: Legislation: AB 2901
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Withdraw support for AB 2901 (Bradley) .
BACKGROUND:
The Board previously took a position of support for AB 2901 which would have
specified that no local agency or public employee would be liable for civil
damages for various actions relating to establishment, designation, monitoring,
or inspection of a trauma facility. The bill has now been amended to provide
that various entities of local government shall not prohibit an acute care
hospital with radio facilities used for communication with emergency Vehicles
from continuing to use the radio facilities if the hospital is not designated
as a trauma facility.
Since the bill no longer provides the liability protection which caused the Board
to initially support AB 2901 , it would be appropriate to withdraw that support
and so notify the author and our legislative delegation.
